“Can’t they see that what they’re saying is so WRONG?!?” 😩

It can be upsetting when we see our friends or family supporting things that the Bible says are absolutely wrong. 😮‍💨

The temptation to get into strife with the person can be immense. 😤

We want to argue and debate with them to prove them wrong. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏾‍♂️

We think of all the things we could say or show them that will change their minds. 😰

And what’s really happening is that the enemy is using this situation to tempt us to get OFFENDED. 😡

Because he knows that if he can get us into offense, that offense will CHOKE the Word and make it unfruitful. (Mk 4:17) 🥀

And he CANNOT have the Word bearing fruit in our lives! ⛔️

That’s why God is so emphatic about avoiding foolish arguments and quarrels, and instead pursuing PEACE. (2 Tim 2:22)😇

That’s why He warns us to, above EVERYTHING ELSE, guard our hearts. (Prov 4:23)❤️

He is helping us to ensure the Word bears fruit in our lives! 🌱

So what do we do in these situations where people upset us? 🥺

In Matt. 5:44 Jesus tells us to forgive and PRAY FOR those who persecute us. 🙏🏼

The person themselves may not be persecuting us – but thoughts about them will! 🤯

Prov 15:1 says, “A kind response turns away wrath…” 😘

A kind response, a prayerful response – God’s way of responding – turns away OUR wrath! 😇

We can pray something like this:

“Lord, I bless Uncle Bob. I forgive him. You love him, Lord, and therefore I choose to love him. Thank you that the eyes of his understanding are opened and he has a revelation of your love and grace toward him. Thank you that he comes to know the truth, and that the truth makes him free.”

And we do this every time we think of “Uncle Bob”. 😇

The results?

🥰 All those thoughts (and feelings!) of offense that are trying to choke the Word in us will vanish

🌱 The Word-seed we are sowing and watering will continue to grow and bear fruit

🕊 The Holy Spirit can get to work to speak to Uncle Bob and lead him to the TRUTH.

😇 We will keep OUR offense-free selves open to hear from God, in case there’s any adjustments we need to make in our thinking!

We can stay un-offendable by responding to situations God’s way – His way is always the win/win way! 🏆🏆 #faithtalks
