Are you struggling with bad habits or addictions? 😰
.
You may know you need to (and even desperately want to!) break free of those habits, but perhaps you’ve tried many times and failed. 😣
.
Good news! 📣
.
God tells us in Ephesians 5:26 that we can “wash” ourselves (purify, cleanse, remove all filth) with the water of the Word! 📖💦
.
Here’s an illustration:
.
Picture a glass full of dirty water. You may think you have to try and empty the glass of the dirty water before you can pour in clean water – but in fact, if you just start pouring in pure, clean water, the clean water will flush the dirty water out.🚰
.
We don’t need to try to rid ourselves of bad habits and addictions in our natural strength – if we simply start filling ourselves with the pure water of the Word, the Word will flush out whatever shouldn’t be there, and we will find ourselves clean! 💦
.
God has made it so simple for us! 🙌🏼
.
So HOW do we flush ourselves with the water of the Word? 🤔
.
By speaking it over ourselves continuously. 🗣
.
If you want to be free of any bad habits or addictions, make this declaration over yourself intentionally every day:
.
“I walk in, am led by, guided by, governed by, and directed by the Holy Spirit, and I DO NOT fulfil the lusts, desires, longings, or cravings of the flesh. I crucify my flesh along with its passions and appetites. I present my body to you, Lord, as a living sacrifice. I am holy and accepted by you! I can do all things through Christ (the Word) which strengthens me!” (Galatians 5:16 & 24, Romans 12:1, Philippians 4:13)
.
🍔 Speak it when you eat or drink things you know you shouldn’t eat or drink.
.
👀 Speak it when you look at things you know you shouldn’t look at.
.
🚬 Speak it when you put things into your body you know you shouldn’t put into it.
.
🤭 Speak it when you do the things you know you should stop doing.
.
Efforts to break addictions and bad habits made from your own strength will often fail, but if you will continually say what God says about you, the Word will change you from the inside out, and the desire for those things will simply vanish! 🥰

That’s Good News! 💯🙌🏼 #faithtalks
