A few weeks ago, I really (like, REALLY!) wanted to post something on social media referring to world events taking place at that time, but I just didn’t have a peace about posting it.😐
So I asked the Lord whether or not I should post it. 🙏🏼
And He asked me a question back: “What is motivating you?”
I then realised that I was not being motivated by LOVE.❤️
My motivation was to appear clever, scathing, and to call attention to the hypocrisy of a certain evil ideology. 😠👉🏼🔎
People who saw my post wouldn’t have felt loved or blessed; they would have felt judged, vilified, and condemned.👎🏼
I was wanting to say what I wanted to say from the WRONG MOTIVATION. 🫥
Romans 12:9 tells us to “Love without hypocrisy, abhor what is evil…”
Notice that God tells us we are to love others and detest WHAT is evil, not WHO is evil.
Why?
Because every person who exists on this planet is deeply and unconditionally loved and forgiven by God, but people’s actions, words, and beliefs can still be influenced by the devil. (2 Cor 4:4)👿
That’s why we’re commanded to detest the EVIL, but we’re commanded to love the PEOPLE.
Everything we say or do to PEOPLE must always be motivated by love.
❤️ Love separates the person from their beliefs, words and actions. (Eph 2:2)
❤️ Love recognises that the devil is our only enemy, not people. (Eph 6:12)
❤️ Love condemns and despises the evil, but shows compassion and grace to the people. (Eph 4:32)
❤️ Love refuses to tolerate or condone evil, but forgives and shows mercy to the people. (Mic 6:8)
❤️ Love takes authority over and binds the evil, but intercedes and prays FORfor the people. (Rom 12:21, Matt 5:44)
❤️ Love remembers that it’s the goodness of God that draws people to repentance, not the wrath of God. (Rom 2:4)
So how can we get to a place where everything we do is motivated by love? 🤔
By looking into the mirror of God’s Word every day and seeing how forgiven, blessed, healed, favoured, protected and loved WE are! 😇
When we have a revelation of how much WE are loved, we will then be able to LOVE OURSELVES the way God tells us to. 🥰 (Gal 5:14)
And when we love ourselves, we will be able to see people as God sees them and demonstrate God’s love to them.😍
We will want people to know and believe the same love and forgiveness we have received, and therefore everything we think, say, or do will be motivated by LOVE. (1 Jn 4:16)❤️ #faithtalks
